Winter brings more people—and more traffic—to Park City and Summit County. Fortunately, there are more ways than ever for employees, customers and visitors to get around our community. Helping people take advantage of these options can make getting around easier while reducing traffic and supporting a more sustainable community.

Join the Park City | Summit County Green Business Program for its next Lunch & Learn exploring the many alternative transportation options available locally—and the role businesses can play in helping more people use them.

Local transportation experts will highlight resources including public transit, Summit Bike Share, carpooling, vanpooling and Ride On Park City, and share how businesses and their employees can take advantage of them. We’ll also introduce a new partnership between Ride On Park City and the Green Business Program designed to help Green Businesses get their employees involved—and earn additional recognition and certification points along the way.

We’ll also hear from Park City Mountain about what’s worked and what they’ve learned from efforts to encourage carpooling and bus ridership among employees and guests.

And because simply knowing these options exist isn’t always enough, the Park City Chamber & Visitors Bureau will share ideas for communicating and promoting transportation options in ways that are useful and relevant to employees, customers and visitors.

Attendees will leave with a better understanding of the transportation options available locally, how other businesses are putting them into practice, and how they can help more employees, customers and visitors use them this winter.

Featured Speakers include:

• Paul Boyle, Director of Content at the Park City Chamber, will discuss how businesses can communicate alternative transportation options in ways that resonate with their audiences. While sustainability helps shape how the Chamber approaches destination marketing and communications, it isn’t necessarily what brings someone to the Chamber’s website or other channels in the first place. Paul will share how the Chamber weaves sustainability and transportation into the broader Park City story—and offer ideas for making these messages engaging, relevant and useful to visitors, customers and employees.

• Sydney Maves, Senior Transportation Planner at Park City, will introduce Ride On Park City and share how the program encourages employees, residents and visitors to walk, bike, take transit, carpool, vanpool and use other transportation options while earning rewards for the trips they log. She’ll also explain how businesses can create employer networks and encourage their employees to participate. Sydney and the Green Business Program will also introduce a new Ride On partnership for Green Businesses that will build on the existing Winter Rewards Program. Participating businesses will be able to engage their employees through Ride On while earning additional Green Business certification points and recognition based on their participation.

• Erin Fulmore, Sustainability Coordinator at Park City Mountain Resort, will provide the business perspective, sharing Park City Mountain’s experience encouraging employees and guests to carpool and use public transportation. She will discuss the resort’s parking program, the results they’ve seen with carpooling and bus ridership, and lessons learned that may be useful to other businesses looking to influence transportation behavior.

Eva DeLaurentis, Senta Beyer and Christie Hewitt, Transportation Planning , Summit County

• Eva will discuss Summit County’s vanpool program, including how vanpools work, who they are designed to serve and how businesses can help connect employees with this commuting option. She can also address where vanpooling may be particularly useful for employees commuting longer distances into the Wasatch Back.

• Senta and Christie will provide an overview of Summit Bike Share and how the program can serve as a practical transportation option for employees, residents and visitors. They will highlight what’s new with the program, including recent technology and equipment changes, as well as some of the events and partnerships Summit Bike Share has been involved with over the past year. They will also help businesses think about how they could put the bike share to use—whether by encouraging employees to use it for commuting or getting around during the workday, helping customers and visitors reach their business, or incorporating Summit Bike Share into events they may be organizing.
