Here in Utah 65% of our home water use goes to watering our lawns, and most of that water is wasted. Our lawns don't really need all that much water to survive and be healthy and there are a number of ways to help automatically control the amount of water we give our lawns. There are a few different automatic sensors and controllers that control your home's outdoor sprinkler system in order to help save outdoor water use. Some of these devices are 'smart' irrigation controllers that use weather, regional climate data, and soil moisture to determine an appropriate watering schedule.
