Junk Mail

Did you know that U.S. companies send over 100 billion pieces of mail each year according to the U.S. Postal Service?  That’s more than 100 million trees that get cut down every year so each of us can get junk mail.  On top of that, the Consumer Research Institute reports that 44% of all junk mail goes into the landfills unopened!

Fortunately, it’s easy to cut down on this junk waste and save a tree by opting out from sources of direct mail.  You can contact junk mailers directly, or you can check out the websites provided below:

  • Reduce the amount of credit card and insurance offers you receive by "opting out":

  • Remove yourself from the Red Plum bulk junk mailing list which sends mailings to addresses in many locations, including Utah (Select "Consumer" in first drop-down):
  • Signing up for the DirectMail.com “National Do Not Mail List: is now free, check it out:
  • The Direct Marketing Association will help remove your name from the specific catalog and mailing lists you don't want:
